Over 61% of adults in the United States reportedly experienced at least one type of ACE, while approximately 1 in every 6 people experienced as many as four or more ( National Survey of Children’s Health, 2016 ). People who experienced ACEs often suffered from poorer physical and mental health, substance abuse, and emotional trauma.
